2018 Dodge Ram 3500 Locked ECMs

October 10, 2018 Comments: 0

With the 2018 model year, Chrysler Corp is requiring all Dodge Ram 3500 vehicles, commonly used in commercial commerce, to come equipped with a locked ECM. This basically means, truck owners cannot perform after market tuning, and potentially alter warranty coverage, by plugging things into the ECM port below the steering column.

However, this also means that any ELD devices plugged into the vehicle thru the ECM port will not read “Driving” mode from the vehicle computer, along with Odometer, and Engine Hours.

If your 2018 Dodge Ram 3500 is affected, we recommend you contact your dealer, or sales associate, to request a WiTech 2 ECM unlock. Chrysler Corp has yet to offer comment on this latest change.
